Warning

(In Development) Live installation and sound experience for gallery space.

The kettles gradually come to the boil.  A high pitched, urgent sound is emitted.  More kettles reach boiling point.  The sound increases in volume and intensity.  A collective state of urgency is created, caught, suspended in a heightened state.

‘Warning’ is a description of a state of urgency.  A state that demands action.  A compulsion to react. To respond.

It looks at the state of collective denial that captures our general state.  The ‘frog in the boiling water’, the temperature gradually rising, imperceptibly to our sensory inputs.  Our human condition seems to be programmed to only respond urgently to immediate visible, measurable and imminent threats, often meaning our collective response to the threat of Climate Change is all too slow and ineffective. ‘Warning’ turns up the heat, reminding us of the urgency and immediacy of the threat, encouraging us into action.

Exhibited either as a ‘group’ or as individual points as an intervention into an existing gallery space eg: at night.
